Its the Whirlwinds World Wide Wednesday Night Blog...
...and it happens to land on hump day with Tito, Pico, and sometimes Sancho Riviera! Eh?
I had to post this song because of its awesomeness. This song, is a song that my best friend and I made a dance to in the 5th grade, for the talent show. We are taking no dance training whatsoever. We did a bunch of cart wheels and some strange gestures. We loved it! We were rockin!
That is when I decided I loved to dance. That summer I made a dance in my living room to some Blonde song, with a cane, and I taught one of friends the little choreograph. She loved it, so I was like feeling pretty good. She said "lets go to my house and show my mom and dad". I was not that secure with it but I went anyway and when we got in the house I saw all kinds of pictures of my friend in razzle dazzle costumes and dance troupe poses, etc. So she knows how to dance for real and did not even tell me?! Her parents came in the living room to see the dance and I was like Hellz to the No! So I ran out the door. But it was not a big deal for a fifth grader. I went to the other neighbor who let you jump on their trampoline for $1 and a note from a parent. Ya!
Just to wrap up a short dance history, my next encounter with dancing was when I went back to high school (I dropped out in 9th grade, another story). I was invited by these chicks in a dance group at the school, this was crazy exciting because these bitches were really cool. They were all like rocker strippers or something and they were doing a dance at the high school talent show to Salt n Pepa's "Push It". Sadly, that was a bust because it was there in the middle of the performance I did not know what the fuck I was doing!..Holy shit. For real because I did not even practice.
No, please let me go on and on to say, when I was 17 I found my last chance to try to dance. I saw I sign in the window of a place called Kismet. It said belly dance classes. ya. and I took some classes from Yasmina and some from Kimaya. The next year I found classes with Ravonda who became my mentor in belly dance for the next 8 years. Then Whirlwinds was born. So yes I finally got to dance and I still get stage fright. But hello happy place..:)
Got anything to add MG?
MaryGold here - Wow Shasha you were inspirin and pushin boundaries, even as a little punk!!! Very impressive!! Look at you now, leading us scalywags of belly dancers all around the place. You go girl!! Don't you ever stop!
My prior dance experience consisted of having a friend in high school that was a ballerina. Top notch! Anyways, she inspired me to take a community ballet class after high school. It was rather awkward as there was only one other girl over the age of 10 and there are matters to consider when you mature but are still required to wear tights and a leotard to class. Well, the other girl over 10, she ended up getting in a car crash and died. After that I stopped going, and things got sad for awhile. But gradually life gets better, and I chose to be happy again. Yay.
That's all we got tonight, we been busy doing stuff! Stuff we do. And, Scotty B, get a fuckin facebook page already mkay? Geeez!!
